Mycelica Kickstarter?
Hey, was at an estate sale, they were selling this old dell laptop for like $70 and they forgot to wipe it. Found this doc on the desktop. Did anybody know about this? They spelled Mycelica wrong. Tried to find the gofundme page, but looks like it was reported and taken down around 2024.

Oh wow! I haven't played Mycelica in years but still occasionally check these forums and seeing this made me sad. This is definitely troubling development for such a beloved system. Such a shame. Still, I remember my time with it fondly and it still exists, as well as do all the community releases made throughout the years. In fact, I might find my copy of the handbook and run a game for my boyfriend and friends to remember the good old days! Hope everyone who sees this does the same and remember why we loved Mycelica!

They've earned my apathy.
I don't care anymore. I've been playing this system for decades now. I've been creating user resources and getting new people into the system. I've been a zealous advocate for Mycelica in TTRPG groups and boards across the internet. But ultimately, the people who put time - no. The people who put love and care into this system, the players - they don't get to decide. This is just the way things are now. This is the direction they've decided to take the IP.
They Couldn't Even Bother to Spell Mycelica Right.
I think I need to take a break. To all of you on the forums who I've hung out with and enjoyed the resources I've created, I'm sorry. But I just can't stay here and watch them puppet the corpse of the thing I once loved. It hurts too much.

Hey mothers_1st_son! I'm so sorry to hear you say that! You've been a valued community member for years and your resources helped many-a-player, even if sometimes people disagreed with you! Hope you find something to centre yourself with, seeing such change can be hard for something you love!

I haven't been dedicated to the fandom nearly as long as you have, Son, but I do understand how you feel. For what it's worth, I think that the fact that you have been so dedicated and produced so much is more important than anything that they do with the IP now. I could name a dozen franchises that spun out of control, were exploited for cash, and then fell into ruin. Just look what happened to Star Trek, and we know from the developer notes that it was a huge inspiration for this system, right? That doesn't mean that it has to devalue all the meaning and creativity we've taken from it.mothers_1st_son wrote: Wed Jan 16, 2002 3:23 pm They've earned my apathy.

The really special thing about Mycelica was what we all did with it, here and elsewhere. The friends we made, the skills we learned - I never would have gotten started on my writing career if it weren't for those first words that I wrote. And you helped me with those, remember?
So if you want to depart from the fandom that's up to you, but I hope you don't feel that all of this wasn't worth it. Because to me, your presence here absolutely was. You were and are valued, and we shouldn't let them take away our love for something precious.
